celebrated my (future) profession's day!

we had a mini fair at the atrium today
with many booths set up
and tended by fellow yr1s & 2s in shifts.
games by the yr1s, and
projects by the yr2s.

i'm not sure about the rest
but i really enjoyed what we did at my booth!

the name wasn't so appealing
Now You See It, Now You Don't
however the game was fun!

basically we attempted to simulate
what a person with visual impairment
would experience ambulating in
semi community environment
under controlled/supervised condition?

participants who came could
either play in pairs or singly.
we would first brief them on
how a guide would assist
the visually impaired to perform
simple tasks like ambulation,
taking the stairs, lift and escalator,
walking through narrow spaces
and guiding to sit.

then they were blindfolded
and we brought the participants
around the L1/L2 atrium area
in a not-revealed-beforehand route!

haha, during the short :( timeslot
we had slightly more than 10 participants
who visited the booth and tried out the game.
there was a group of 5 who were
really enthusiastic and sporting
so it was nice to share with them what
the profession (i'm still studying for)
can do for the visually impaired.

when my shift ended, i saw them
at the wheelchair-race booth.
GH was explaining to them bit on
how to use and maintain the wheelchair.
then he did a wheelie! so cool.
i would like to try learn that
although i'm not sure i dare to
do so without supervision. heh =P

anyway, it was a fun morning
and i'm glad i got to work with
suanwoo, jonathan & cheekiong. =]
