here's my twentyfive

thought i'd list my twentyfive here
since i've been tagged on fbook by friends.

[as prioritised]
01) God takes FIRST place in my life, as does in this list.
02) loved ones matter a great deal.
i will defend them when the need arises.
03) the guy i <3 alot does not like me to play with ikan bilis heads.

[what comes next are in no particular order]
04) like movies, just not the paying-part.
video rentals are waayy affordable!
(all genres but horror please)
05) technology can sometimes be a boon,
but somehow, it doesn't always agree with me.
06) my default face can look fierce.
(only close friends of mine understand
and don't get freaked out/distance away)
07) hope to get married young.
(far cry from times when i was a tomboy:
arm-wrestling and winning the guys)
08) will definitely omit sharksfin soup
on the menu for the wedding dinner.
the way the fishes are killed is cruel.
09) wish paper-chasing wasnt compulsory for survival.
that'd make #7 a more plausible reality.
10) sleeping&waking early is something i miss,
now that i'm in poly.
11) used to be in the infamous TrimAndFit club
to get myself in the acceptable weight range.
(haha, have blackmailable photos on display at home)
12) intend to work on removing the 'fl' in flabs.
(tough one but hope to accomplish before the biomech module >.<)
13) do not take carbonated/sparkling/alcoholic drinks.
reason: taste=ugh.
14) like food but am not fussy.
(only find it hard to come to a decision as to what i want to eat)
15) really like icecream chocolate bubbletea.
not too much, though!
16) have never fried eggs without burning the pot.
(what more, cook?)
17) have quiet moments.
18) do not like sarcasm. or gossip.
trying to cut them out of my speech.
19) want to be a jill of all trades and master of some.
(current: bass guit? hokkiendialect, hakka dialect.)
20) like pretty colours. and pretty colour combinations.
usually 'see' them before i see anything else (design, style, cost, utility)
21) the above said, i can be quite practical and thrifty.
22) planning ahead is something i like to do.
the hard part is sticking to plans made,
but well, flexibility is good sometimes. =P
23) have not decided if mosquitoes in asia
prefer blood type B+ over the others.
(record: 86 bites [or more] after a white water rafting trip in m'sia.
but the trip with U. Bernard was worth it!)
24) i have many scars from falls, scrapes, my being me - clumsy.
(wish i had better skin so they'd heal, though.
there goes my dream of being a model. heh)
25) i cannot believe i took two hours to write the above,
but well. i'm on hols~

there'd be more things about me
that i'd've written if the number
i'd specified weren't twentyfive
but that'll do (for now). =]

it has been quite a while.

THE EXAMS ARE OVER! (whoop-de-doo)
haha, finally cleared the determinants
to whether i will be making it to my second year.

hope i fared okay,
i can only await the results
that will be released in a month's time?

anyway, just an update on
how my hols'll be spent:
SUPER PACKED SCHEDULE!!

1) study trip in m'sia
- gonna spend abt a week there
for exposure to what the education's
like at a university there.

2) m-trip to thailand
- will be away another week,
doing some outreach as well as
help in bit of medical work.
- although it'll be my third trip ever,
am still rather excited as this
will be my first time going
to do such work.
- it seems last-minute to sign up
but i felt that this hols'll be
my only opportunity to do so
for at least the next three years?

3) participation in the school's orientation
- will be an OGL along with the other ppl
who attended the mentorship camp last year.

4) planning the course's freshmen orientation camp
- will be the first ever for the course,
thus this will be slightly challenging.
- however, i'm pretty much excited!
- hope things are planned/executed smoothly.

5) planning the cca's clubcrawl
- not sure what this entails
but it should be alright.

yup! many things for this hol
(one and only, for the 3years in nyp),
BUT
i will factor in time for
- family
- friends
- some revision

PROMISE!

ahh, well.
may this break be spent wisely! =]

first cell meeting of the year!

i joined the CCK YA Cell today
and i realised how much i miss everyone's company.

we all adjourned to lePastor (aka my PrayerBuddy)'s place
for lunar new year celebrations
(FOOD!! thankyou auntypeggy
for the dee-licious homemade lowhay!)
somewhat on an impulse?

i have yet to complete my 2000word essay
but after the worship meeting at church
i (surprised myself and) decided to join them.

and i do not regret my decision.

i really miss the YA.
i just feel so comfortable,
at ease, myself
when i'm with them.

may lydia daniel ian thomas

(selene) (colin o) (colin g).

for cell group we discussed
DISCIPLE MAKING.
[Matthew 28:18-20]
"19Therefore go and make disciples of all nations,
baptizing them in the name of the Father
and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
20and teaching them to obey
everything I have commanded you.
And surely I am with you always,
to the very end of the age."

note to self: ask May for the material's name.

we should all be pregnant! [SPIRITUALLY.]
but individually, are we?

spiritual pregnancy
-goes beyond bringing others to Christ (child-like faith)
-mentoring one into a deeper walk with God (follow up)

reasons for sterility:
1) singlehood
- not yielding closely to God in marriage
(just like the church is the bride
and Jesus is the loving groom)
2) disease
- sin can be likened to a disease
(where it hinders us from fulfilling
what the GREAT COMMISSION says)
3) immaturity
- as a young child cannot be pregnant
(we are not ready or prepared
to carry out disciple-making)

satan's tool to hampering pregnancy
> gossip
> disunity
> busyness
--

after the sharing and discussion
(of which i greatly treasure)
i am inspired, determined
to do what i have been called to do.
i realise my life here on earth
is not without purpose.
and i am going to fulfil it.

Worship Meeting at COA

i got to touch the bass for the first time in a month!
was a little rusty although i'd practice beforehand
with the in-terrible-shape acoustic guitar at home.

i was reminded:
it is a privilege to praise God.
(so don't get all cocky and prideful
of the gift/talent one may have.)

went and back!

hee, once again i left without notice =P

on jan24th 06:00am, my family & i
zoomed away to m'sia for the new year.

spent a good 4days3nights there
with the cousins and i can only say
i thoroughly enjoyed myself =]

almost the whole clan was there!
for the annual lunch on 初一, that is.
(save for one family in newZ,
a cousin in PJ studying for his As,
a cousin & partfamily who didnt come.)

anyway, the lunch was different this year.
first of all, we went to a different restaurant!
we'd been going to the same one for years
so perhaps it was time for a change?
i think this one was nearer to our aunt's place.

next was the table arrangements!
this was the first lunch that
i'm not at the "kid's table",
scooping food for them,
ensuring everyone had some to eat..
(not that i mind,
but it's a change i could get used to?)

so the young people at my table were
ladies 18+above, and two men.

'twas kinda funny 'cos
through the conversations,
we found that Ezra was totally out of touch
with where everyone was and
with what everyone was doing.
but we caught up eventually. =P

and i spoke to AhYong KorKor
FOR THE VERY FIRST TIME!!
haha. he was asking what i was doing
so i told him and tried explaining
a little of what it meant.
he shared about how things are
on his side as well
(he's in Bible College! in Taiwan!!)

then after like.. fifteen minutes
i asked him if he knew my name
and he was.. speechless! haha
i guess the age gap's kinda big la, ya?
but since i'm in my TWENTIES now,
i guess it's about time
i get to know my cousin?

haha, as usual, we'd shuttle between
two of the aunts' places
to watch some telly, catch up
and eat and eat and eat and EAT!

goodness.
there goes my plans to be fit~
haha.

nonono. cannot.
totally feeling the level of fitness going downhill!
(evident in lack of strength & endurance required for the current attachments)

after the exams, kay?
i promise.

ode to syams =(

will miss this dear friend
who'd been there to
(sometimes, literally)
catch me when i fall,
fellow mrt buddy,
a great encourager
in studies,
a listening ear and
tolerator of my
many idiosyncracies.

we should have taken more photos...

although you're not with us in the course,
we'll still hang out ya?

movies and meals with farah and me!

--- photos to come ---
(be patient, ya.. um, after exams!)
hee =P

celebrated my (future) profession's day!

we had a mini fair at the atrium today
with many booths set up
and tended by fellow yr1s & 2s in shifts.
games by the yr1s, and
projects by the yr2s.

i'm not sure about the rest
but i really enjoyed what we did at my booth!

the name wasn't so appealing
Now You See It, Now You Don't
however the game was fun!

basically we attempted to simulate
what a person with visual impairment
would experience ambulating in
semi community environment
under controlled/supervised condition?

participants who came could
either play in pairs or singly.
we would first brief them on
how a guide would assist
the visually impaired to perform
simple tasks like ambulation,
taking the stairs, lift and escalator,
walking through narrow spaces
and guiding to sit.

then they were blindfolded
and we brought the participants
around the L1/L2 atrium area
in a not-revealed-beforehand route!

haha, during the short :( timeslot
we had slightly more than 10 participants
who visited the booth and tried out the game.
there was a group of 5 who were
really enthusiastic and sporting
so it was nice to share with them what
the profession (i'm still studying for)
can do for the visually impaired.

when my shift ended, i saw them
at the wheelchair-race booth.
GH was explaining to them bit on
how to use and maintain the wheelchair.
then he did a wheelie! so cool.
i would like to try learn that
although i'm not sure i dare to
do so without supervision. heh =P

anyway, it was a fun morning
and i'm glad i got to work with
suanwoo, jonathan & cheekiong. =]
