reflection on my Maundy Thursday.

i fell asleep.
grr.
for the third year in a row,
i fell asleep.

well, before anyone calls me lousy
let me tell you the situation.

for the past three years now,
Maundy Thursday is commemorated with
an overnight prayer.

so it starts around 11pm (those on duty come before 10pm)
and we have Praise&Worship Sessions and Prayer Sessions,
four cycles of them, ending the whole event at 6am on Good Friday.

at each prayer session, we pray for different important things.
for example, the first session we took time to pray for
- family & self
- nation & leaders
- neighbouring countries

oh! something special during the first session
is the stripping of the altar.
it's a significant event
'cos during/before the crucifiction of Jesus on the cross
the veils in the Holy Temple were stripped.
that was to mark that from then on,
Christians need not go through priests to present requests to God.
now there's direct access through Jesus Christ.
it's really cool for me that this year,
the reality of the history of events
had meant something to me. :))

i remember the rest of the sessions focussed on the Church, such as
- church members
- Men's & Women's Ministries
- Agape Children, Youth, Young Adults, Young Working Adults Ministries
- Worship & Sound Ministries (where i'm involved in doing backup, multimedia & the PA system)
- Filipino Fellowship & SMPS Chaplaincy
i think they're more but i can't recall them now.

anyway, this year
although i still didn't hold out till the end of everything,
i think i improved a little.

i remember the in the past two years
i was usually knocked out by the end of the third session!
and i was just a student then!

this year, i only gave in to the calls of dreamland
nearing the end of the fourth session.
a great accomplishment, okay!
considering i went to work as usual
(which is more tiring than going to school, i think..)

so there.
even if i DID fall asleep,
i didn't do too bad, right?
