a stupid move led to the strain of a thigh muscle.. [believe me.. when i say stupid, i MEAN stupid.. haha..] it hurt so bad that i couldn't even walk properly.. *bleah* you evil saddistic people out there should have seen the way i had to hobble around whereever i went.. don't even talk about the 8flights of stairs i had to limp everyday to reach my homeroom which is located on the 4th floor.. -.-''' yup.. anyway, the pain lessened a little as the days went by but then this HUGE event loomed up ahead and i got worried.. it was the school's Annual Cross-Country at MacRitchie!!! and since this would be the last year in the school, i'd badly wanted to do well.. my spirits were crushed when i couldn't start training for it.. well, anyway, i had no choice.. recovery was more important so i decided not to push it.. two weeks of watching my fellow competitors train for the run kinda made me jealous but, hey.. i'll wait and see if it's His desire for me to run.. *shrug*
first, lets talk about last year.. heh.. JC1, still within the first three months.. there was this guy who was kinda kewt.. wasn't in my class, but he was taking the same subject combination and in the same class as a close friend of mine.. [i had plenty of eXcuse to hang around them.. *bleah*] yup.. well, although he was just eyecandy, some friends would tease me as though i liked him.. hehe.. played along.. until i almost believed i liked him! *:O* haha.. but that's actually something impossible because i don't really believe you can like a person [as in the love kinda like? heh..] until you really get to know the person.. yeah.. and this super-kewt anime-character-looking kinda guy was an extremely shy person.. so, haha.. did we ever hold a conversation? hmm.. i don't really think so.. the occassional "hi" & "bye" was considered a great achievement already.. hehe.. *:P*
okayy.. ANYWAY, i've got this thing about running any races.. it's to run for my precious PaPaGod.. yup.. every single 2.4km run, Sports Day event, Cross Country race? well, yeah.. i did it for Him.. mmm.. actually, i know it's because He gave me the strength to run, that's why i could.. *smiles* heh.. then came THIS X-Country run.. [referring to last year's one.. *:P*] WELL, i kinda got distracted.. yup.. i badly wanted to get that guy's recognition.. haha.. don't ask me why.. maybe it's because i'm not eXactly very good at my studies so that's the only way to have someone notice me? aiyah.. was so stupid larh.. but, yeah.. i ran the race for the WRONG reason.. for a GUY.. can you believe it? heh.. *sheepish grin*
haha.. so here's the picture.. i'm new to the MacRitchie route 'cause my secondary school always ran at some Jurong Park or something.. yeah.. and the scenery there isn't way very good larh.. haha.. anyway, so i'm giving it all i've got for a long time.. lotsa stamina, lotsa drive.. rambled through the forest, up and down the treacherous hills.. [heh.. didn't expect so much terrain.. *:S*] and i haven't stopped at all.. then i'm passing a bunch of councillors flanking the "race course".. didn't know what that meant at that time but i suddenly felt myself full of fatigue.. i wanted to give up.. slowed down.. counted 11 people who passed me.. wondered where they got that sudden burst of energy.. *:S* until i saw the finish line less than 100m away from me.. dash with all my might. GREAT! i've completed the race.. what's my position number? oh. disappointment. 30. *sigh* did you know that they only gave out medals to the top 20? *argh* and i had let ELEVEN people overtake me? i could have received one!! oh, well.. so from that i learnt that it doesn't pay to run for the wrong reasons.. haha.. or something like that..
yup.. this year, i was certain the same thing wasn't going to happen.. but, with my leg like that, walk also pain, how to run? *:S* haha.. i told my Cell Group members about it and they prayed for me.. my parents too.. even on the night before, it had still hurt and i was already asking my mum if she could write a letter so that i could 'pon' school.. but i later decided to put that on hold and have my Quiet Time with PaPaGod instead.. was just following my devotional guide and reading the Bible passage for the day when it suddenly popped out of the page and clung onto my heart..
Habakkuk 3:19 "The Sovereign LORD is my strength; he makes my feet like the feet of a deer, he enables me to go on the heights..."
at that instant, I knew that He wanted me to run - and to run for Him once again.. and since He did, i decided to fully rely on Him for the relief of pain, for the lack of training, strength and preparation and for the need of sleep i had accumulated over the past few nights, preparing for a Bio test coming up the day after the Cross Country.. i went to sleep with the muscle still tender but the next morning when i woke up, i was ready to run!
and i did! i made a personal achievement and i knew i did it for Him.. *:)*
He WAS with me ALL the way.. *grin*
